In News March 13, 2013

Recently, users have begun demanding that the enterprise adopt the emerging bring-your-own-device (BYOD) model in which employees access enterprise applications using personal devices such as smartphones and tablets. In order to make mobile device management easier to handle giving staff access to approved enterprise application, enterprises are going to be developing their own in-house enterprise app store as part of the mobile strategy.

In a recent press release Gartner has stated that by 2017, 25 percent of enterprises will have enterprise app stores as part of their mobile strategies. As the numbers of devices grow along with the number of mobile applications utilized within an organization, enterprise app store will give organizations greater control over the type of apps that are used and available. Along with their estimation about the number of enterprises utilizing app stores they highlight three trends and recommendations on how organizations can utilize and benefit from them.

But the Gartner also warns that the benefits of improved mobile device management and the attraction of staff using approved applications will only be possible if the app store is widely adopted by staff.
