Citychain launched new app with Geo-Fencing feature

Marketers has been coming up with creative idea to catch customer’s eyeballs as much as possible. Location SMS, or even Apple’s Passbook is also trying to address the importance of locating target audience’s physical presence. Recently, a new technology started to pick up with the mobile wave and further open the market opportunity for location marketing – that is Geo-Fencing Technology.

Geo-Fencing Technology enables retailers or business to recognize customers when they are within a predetermined radius around a specific location. This is a very powerful feature for retailers to deliver promotion messages and special offers through their mobile app to end customers according to their physical location in order to encourage them to walk into the store and make purchases.

In June, Citychain HK has launched a new mobile app that features geo-fencing technologies. City Chain mobile app is free new app that uses geo-fencing feature to automatically inform users when they walk nearby a City Chain retail shops in Hong Kong.

This mobile app comes with a special promotional campaign for Samsung mobile phone users. When Samsung users walk nearyby the City Chain any retail shops, City Chain app will send them a location-based reminders to claim the special offers. This is the perfect example of how mobile app can take advantages of location-based technology such as geo-fencing, to enhance customer engagement.
